MMA and me; day 141

Yesterday I went and worked out at Alderwood MMA, which is owned and run by the same gentleman who owns Shoreline MMA. It was a little different, but not much, All we worked was gi jiu jitsu, and we stayed with what we've been working on, guard passing. From the guard, walk your hands up to the hips, and keep the arms firm, don't let your wrist or elbows go limp. From there, posture back until your hips are under your shoulders, and shrug your shoulders up and forward, hunching your back slightly. From there, extend your hip flexors, and you should be able to break their guard. Slide your left hand up to their right knee, followed by your right hand and press it down until you've "nailed" it to the floor. Maintaining the pressure, slide your right knee inside your hands, pinning their thigh to the mat. Cradle their head with your right arm under the head and left arm with a far side under hook, windshield wiper your legs so your left leg takes the place of your right, then slide into side control. Next, we worked the lunge pass. As you posture up, donkey kick your left leg out behind you, then bring it up the middle of their butt crack. Keeping your head low, but also keeping your arms posted to prevent submission attempts, lunge your right leg out behind you, completely straight, and with the top of your foot flat on the mat. Posture up and turn as far up and to the right as you can, breaking their guard, and then quickly pushing their right knee to the ground with your right hand. Slide your right knee over their shin, and cradle their head with your right arm under and left arm with a far side under hook. From there, you windshield wiper your legs, then C block with your left hand inside your legs to block theirs, and end in side control. We also worked a matador pass from standing. Making sure to grab under their heels, swing their legs to the left and step in that direction. Quickly swing their legs back to the right, and bring your right hand way over the top to grab and block their right leg. Stepping around to the side, drop your right knee to their sternum, while slipping your right hand for a far side under hook. Pull with the under hook, while using your hips to posture up and drive your knee into their sternum. If they get up on a hip, then step over their head with your left knee into head mount, and there are a plethora of submission opportunities from here. We finished with a few grappling bouts, and I ended up getting smashed by coach Wise for about 15 minutes or so. Rough stuff, but it always feels good to just work! Thanks for getting me up to Alderwood Coach, and also Morgan. I'm really liking working with my gi!
